This year’s festivities captured the essence of Wesley's spirit like never before. As guests mingled and reminisced, the atmosphere brimmed with nostalgia and anticipation. Old tales were exchanged, laughter echoed and the air buzzed with excitement.

The entire crowd of alumni, students, parents and coaches chimed in for a stirring rendition of ‘The Boating Song’ led by Mark Stephens (OW1965) and heeded passionate and eloquent toasts made by Bob Duncan OAM (OW1949), Anastasia Malishev (OW1995) and Ben Sandow (OW1995).

For many, the dinner served as a cherished opportunity to reconnect with former team mates and mentors, reinforcing the sense of belonging that defines the rowing experience at Wesley College.

Year 12 students Ella and Sam were awarded the iconic Paul Guest Medal, as voted by their rowing peers, for demonstrating humility and inspirational leadership.

The unveiling of the new 'Generational Seat' photo concept stirred emotions and sparked conversations. The resulting images depict alumni, spanning the generations, proudly grouped in their designated rowing seats – a visual testament to an enduring bond that transcends time.

The 'Generational Seat' photo served as a focal point for reflection and reverence. Each shot captured carries many a story... of triumphs and setbacks, challenges overcome and shared experiences of their position in the boat, and now, new friendships forged. It was a homage to the countless individuals who have contributed to Wesley's rowing legacy, and shaped it into the sporting program it is today.

The 2024 Boat Race Dinner was not merely an event; it was a celebration of community, history, heritage and the enduring spirit of Wesley rowing – and our biggest dinner in recent years! Wesley's rowing legacy continues to thrive, inspiring generations to come.
