President's Report: Kate Evans (OW1998)
OWCA reunions are off to a strong start for the year with two double header reunions at Glen Waverley and St Kilda Road, the 2003 20-year reunion and the 1998 25-year reunion – including my own personal reunion, where over 60 OWs from 1998 attended. A lot of fun was had, reliving old memories. There was also a great turn out for the 1973 50-year reunion.
Our Women of Wesley event for the year – our best to date – celebrated Wesley’s strong presence in the AFLW and focused on the success of three key alumni who shared their story with fellow OWs, staff, teachers, affiliate representatives, parents and students. It was truly an event for all.
In March we joined Fiona Dickson, Director of Community Engagement and Jack Moshakis (OW1973), Director of the Wesley College Foundation, in Jakarta to meet with some very special alumni and co-host an event, generously held with the generous involvement of Mr Tedy Djuhar (OW1972).
We remind and deeply encourage all OWs to create a personal profile and upload your business details and imagery to our community app, OWConnect. It’s an invaluable opportunity for you as an OW to link up with other OWs and OW businesses, and it opens connections across employment, mentoring and career opportunities, social networking and support. Moving forward, reunion photo albums will only be uploaded to this platform, so make sure you’re signed up to check out all the action!
As we head into May – our busiest month of the year – we remind our community to put the following two dates in their diaries: Founders’ Day Dinner (Saturday 13 May) and Founders’ Day Lunch (Friday 26 May). This year the Founders’ Day Dinner will be an exclusive event with only 80 tickets available, so make sure you don’t miss out!
