Collegians X Hockey
With the new season just around the corner, there's plenty to look forward to as our men’s and women’s teams gear up for another exciting year of action on the pitch.
Fundamentally, the club has a renewed emphasis on performance which has been underpinned by our engagement of international-level coach Desi Duarte. A new coach always brings fresh perspectives and strategies to the team, and it's always exciting to see how they will lead their players to victory.
Desi has over 35 years playing and coaching experience, spending much of his career around Melbourne hockey clubs. Highlights include being the Head Coach of the Vietnam National Hockey team at the World League 1 Games, and coaching the men’s and women’s Jewish Australian Teams at the Maccabiah Games in Israel, with the men winning a silver medal.
With this initiative and support from the OWCA, Collegians X is always looking for players who are interested in being part of a very social club that enjoys a great standard of hockey.
The pre-season has been particularly exciting for our teams who are eager to rebound from the challenges posed by the previous few years. This has also served as a vital preparation for teams to hit the ground running for the regular season, which will begin in April 2023.
