Carefully curated by Head of Visual Arts, Michele Maher, these pieces not only celebrate the diverse beauty of Victoria’s landscapes, but also highlight the exceptional artistic skill required for such a prominent display. This installation stands as a testament to our students’ talent and creativity, turning the space into an inspiring visual experience for everyone to enjoy.
‘The artwork makes the space feel much more welcoming and showcases students’ work across generations, which is really valued at Wesley,’ said Kirra (Year 12).
Jensen (Year 12, IB DP) added, ‘It’s inspiring to see student artwork integrated into the Senior School. It fosters a sense of belonging and encourages us to contribute to the school’s legacy.’
This celebration of student creativity continues in the Junior School, with Year 11 IB DP students Helen and Theresa bringing a splash of colour to the playground with a vibrant rainbow mural.
‘Our goal was to use our love of art to spread positivity and inclusivity within the school, brightening the space and bringing smiles to the students’ faces,’ said Theresa.
They certainly achieved their goal, taking time to visit the Junior School to connect with Year 2 students and hear firsthand the joy their artwork has brought:
‘I like that there are so many different things to look at in the painting.’
‘Just looking at this makes me smile and feel happier at school.’
The mural is already inspiring future generations of artists, with one student saying, 'Maybe one day I’ll grow up to be an amazing painter like Helen and Theresa and create something for Wesley too.’
‘Creating this mural means a lot to us,’ said Theresa. ‘We are grateful to everyone who helped make this possible and for the opportunity to contribute to our community.
