Introducing our 2025 School Captains

Kirwan and Aidan – Glen Waverley Campus

When Kirwan joined Wesley as a Year 7 student, she was immediately struck by the vast array of opportunities on offer and the welcoming nature of the school. ‘Wesley is a place where trying new things isn’t daunting, and I’ve embraced every opportunity to explore, grow and connect with others,’ she said.

Co-Captain Aidan has called Wesley home since Year 2 and it’s the culture that has shaped him in ways he could never have imagined. ‘The friendships, the support and the unwavering sense of belonging makes Wesley more than just a school; it’s a community,’ he said. It’s this passion that drove his decision to apply for the role of School Captain.

‘I want to give back to the place that has given me so much. To contribute positively and support our vibrant and diverse community, ensuring that every student’s voice is heard. Leadership is more than just a title – it’s about fostering a culture that allows others to be the best they can be.’

For Kirwan, being School Captain means stepping up and being a support for others by drawing on her experience and the networks she has developed. ‘When I applied for the role of School Captain, I knew it would challenge me. The process itself pushed my boundaries, but it also strengthened my resolve. I want to be the person who helps others achieve their goals, whatever they may be.’

As the year unfolds, her message to fellow students is simple: ‘Keep your locker clean. Throw away any leftover food before it gets mouldy. And don’t be afraid to ask your teachers for help, because all they want is for you to be the best you can be. I hope to be remembered for the positive impact I make, shaping a better future for generations of students at Wesley College.’

Aidan’s focus in his final year is on making lasting memories. ‘I want to be remembered as someone who was friendly and kind, always willing to lend a helping hand, and who truly embraced what it means to be a Wesley student.’

Archie and Eva –  St Kilda Road Campus

When Eva first walked through the gates of Wesley in Year 5, she had no idea just how many opportunities would come her way, and the connections they would bring.

‘From the Future Problem Solving program - where I got to compete in the US, to countless cocurricular activities, it’s the connections I have made with like-minded people that have made my Wesley experience so special and shaped the person I am today,’ she said.

‘I have always been motivated by working in a team, so stepping into the role of School Captain provides an incredible opportunity to collaborate with amazing people and help create new opportunities for others. To me, great leadership isn’t about delivering the best speeches or planning the biggest events - it’s about the small, everyday actions that inspire those around you.’

Her advice to younger students is to simply try your best every day. ‘Say yes to every opportunity, meet as many people as you can, and enjoy every minute of your time at Wesley,’ she said.

For Co-Captain Archie, who came to Wesley in Year 7, some of his best memories have been out on the water with the rowing team, competing in house events and on school tours.

‘It’s the people, the opportunities and the sense of community that makes Wesley so special,’ he said. ‘Whether it’s in Adamson Hall, on the sports field, or just walking through campus, there’s always this energy that brings people together.’

‘As School Captain, I want to give back to the school that has given me so much. My goal this year is to build a culture where we support each other, celebrate each other’s successes and push ourselves to be our best - all while having as much fun as possible. I hope I will be remembered as someone who brought people together, led with integrity, and helped strengthen the Wesley spirit.’
