Adamson Theatre Company excellence recognised by the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria

Music Theatre Guild of Victoria awards

The Music Theatre Guild of Victoria’s (MGTV) Annual Bruce Awards for Excellence recognise excellence in amateur theatre and musical theatre across 60 secondary schools in Victoria. This year, Adamson Theatre Company (the St Kilda Road student theatre) entered two of their productions, Miss Saigon and Seussical, to great success.


The productions have been nominated for the following awards:

  • Junior Production of the Year – Miss Saigon
  • Direction of a Junior Production – Marcus Pinnell and Fiona Atkin, Miss Saigon
  • Musical Direction of a Junior Production – Susie Heggie and David Mowat, Miss Saigon
  • Junior Male in a Leading Role – Julian Machin, The Engineer, Miss Saigon
  • Junior Female in a Leading Role – Maggie Orr, Kim, Miss Saigon
  • Junior Female in a Leading Role – Anita La Terra, Kim, Miss Saigon
  • Design Award – Dann Barber, Settings, Miss Saigon
  • Choreography – Montana Slavik and Cynthia Wells, Seussical

Adamson Theatre Company has also received an Award of Excellence; these awards are given to performers, ensembles or productions that the judging panel believe to merit more than a nomination.

Commendations were also given to the following students:

  • Junior Male in a Leading Role – Sebastian Schultz, The Engineer, Miss Saigon
  • Junior Male in a Leading Role – Freddie Grieves-Smith, Chris, Miss Saigon
  • Junior Female in a Supporting Role – Olive Weeks, Ellen, Miss Saigon
  • Junior Female in a Supporting Role – Leyla Kenneally, Gertrude, Seussical

The Musical Theatre Guild of Victoria is a not-for-profit organisation that supports the development of non-professional music theatre in Victoria. Winners of the 32nd Annual Bruce Awards will be announced at a ceremony in Melbourne on 8 December 2018.
