Glen Waverley Middle School Fire
The sober reality of yesterday’s fire was very apparent this morning and it was very moving to have all staff and the Senior School students return today. Our briefings with them this morning went very well. Today, structural and risk inspections are being undertaken in the affected area and, following these evaluations, we will know what is required to make the whole Middle School area safe.
Based on the preliminary feedback, we have been advised that there are significant ‘make-safe’ actions to occur over the next few days.
As a result, the Middle School will remain closed until Tuesday 26 April. That is, there is NO SCHOOL for Years 5 – 9 tomorrow, Friday 22 April.
We understand this will disrupt the plans of many parents and we apologise for the inconvenience. But, please be assured that we are endeavouring to do everything possible to resume all school services as quickly as possible.
As per yesterday’s update, Junior school (ECLC – Year 4) and Senior School (Years 10 – 12) will resume normal school hours from tomorrow (Friday).
We will provide a further update to all Glen Waverley parents by the end of the day.
