Joined the AIF in South Australia. Landed at Gallipoli on 25/4/15. Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 28/4/1915. Reported sick 5/9/15 and after several hospital visits, he was granted three months leave back to Australia in 1916. Mentioned in Dispatches on 11/12/15. In England in Oct 1916. The attack of 20/9/17 advanced about 1,250 yards. He was one of three 10th Battalion officers killed.
